Epic Footage Shows Metallica Performing "Master Of Puppets" In The Rain

Every once in a while Metallica reminds us why they're one of the biggest bands in the world, and the band's rain-soaked performance in Manchester, England, is one of those times.

It surely wasn't ideal for diehards to take in the band's June 18 at Etihad Stadium in the rain (it was "pissing it down" that night, according to U.K. rock magazine, Kerrang!), but no one who stuck it out will soon forget what they got to see.

Metallica is accustomed to braving the elements to bring its 'WorldWired' tour to fans all over the world. But things don't always go according to plan. Guitarist Kirk Hammett was quick to laugh at himself when he slipped and fell on his wah-wah pedal during a rainy night this spring in Italy.

But in Manchester, the rain appeared to bring the best out of the Metallica. The band's rendition of "Master of Puppets," as it was captured by its video team, was simply majestic.

Lars Ulrich's performance is particularly extraordinary, as he powers through the storm with water splashing into his face each time he hits his toms or cymbals.
