The Miami Dolphins are reportedly expected to hire Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their next head coach, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday (January 19).
"The #Dolphins have zeroed in on #Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their new head coach, per me and @TomPelissero. The two sides need to do a deal, and they are motivated to do so. One of most coveted candidates," Rapoport wrote on his X account. "The #Dolphins take one of the top candidates off the board."
Hafley, 46, was reportedly being considered for the Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Las Vegas Raiders' head coaching vacancies before the reported decision to join the Dolphins. The move will also reunite Hafley with general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, who was recently hired by Miami after spending his entire career with the Packers.
Hafley had previously worked as the head coach at Boston College and had a 22-26 record, which included a 1-0 record in bowl games, from 2020 to 2023 before joining Matt LaFleur's Packers staff in 2024. Green Bay ranked as the No. 12 total defense with 311.8 yards per game and No. 11 scoring defense during the 2025 NFL regular season.
