Last month, KYRIE IRVING shocked the NBA, by requesting a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers. This is the same guy that plays alongside LEBRON JAMES, on a team that's made the NBA Finals three straight years . . . winning one.
Well, Cleveland granted his wish in a blockbuster deal with Boston.
To make it happen, the Celtics are sending the Cavs their stud point guard Isaiah Thomas, along with Jae Crowder, center Ante Zizic, and an unprotected first round pick in next year's draft. (It's the Nets' pick, so it'll probably be a high one.)
The trade actually benefits both teams, but the Cavs are still good enough that they'll probably block Kyrie's road to the Finals for years to come . . . or at least as long as LeBron stays in Cleveland. By the way, the Cavs first game of the season is at home on October 17th . . . against the Celtics.
