Dolly Parton Confirms Numerous Collaborations From Upcoming 'Rock Star' LP

Dolly Parton has come a long way from declining induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to assembling a who's who of music icons for her rock 'n' roll debut — what should be her 49th studio album when it arrives this year.

Before Dolly made the decision to withdraw from consideration for the Rock Hall — a decision she ultimately reversed — she promised to make a true rock 'n' roll album if she was inducted.

Dolly eventually accepted the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honor, and therefore is making good on her pledge to make some rock music. And she couldn't have assembled a better cast of characters to help her along the way.

In a recent appearance on The View, Dolly offered some insight into the musicians who are going to guest on her new record.

"We've got great artists like Paul McCartney singing with me," Dolly said. "Stevie Nicks, we just finished our song last night."

She added that John Fogerty, Steve Perry and Steven Tyler are also going to be featured. But there's more.

"We got a lot of iconic singers that are gong to be on with us. So I'm looking forward to it," Dolly added. "I'm even going to have Cher on. I've been getting a song for her. We've been trying to get the right thing together but that's going to be a big thrill."

Dolly has also made overtures to Mick Jagger, Elton John, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, in addition to pop superstar Pink and singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile.

Parton teased her song with Perry on the red carpet for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. She said she and Perry would be singing Journey's "Open Arms" together.
