Sammy Hagar & the Circle have set a release date for their forthcoming second studio album, Crazy Times.
The supergroup's new LP will arrive September 30 on CD and digital formats and October 28 on vinyl.
Hagar explained in a statement that the lyrics for "Crazy Times" came to him last fall amid a wave of optimism and uncertainty, regarding the pandemic.
“Going back in the studio, creating and being with the music is just what felt natural," said the Red Rocker. "And it was just so different from any record I've ever made. There was joy in the hard work, catharsis and the camaraderie we’d craved. It was like those two years of not being able to do very much fell away and we really all came together and let it out in the music and lyrics. We were able to express what we all felt.”
Hagar & the Circle's debut album, Space Between, arrived in 2019 and hit No. 1 in the U.S. on four Billboard charts, including the Top Rock and Top Hard Rock album charts.
While matching that success might seem a tall task, Hagar told Forbes this past spring that Crazy Times is the best work of his career and a "hybrid of everything I've ever been involved with musically."
Hagar, Michael Anthony, Vic Johnson and Jason Bonham will hit the road again in August for more touring.
