Tropical Storm Nestor Moving Quickly Toward Panhandle

Here's the latest on Tropical Storm Nestor.

Winds and storm surge are currently affecting much of the Gulf Coast area with heavy rains overspreading the area. Forecasters say Nestor will soon lose its tropical characteristics. Current radar shows outer bands from Nestor are overspreading the Western half of the Florida Panhandle, but the storm is expected to quickly move off to the North and East with possible breaks of sunshine later today.

The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center:

Location: 29.0N 86.0W

About 75 Miles Southwest of Apalachicola and about 85 Miles South Southwest of Panama City Beach. Maximum sustained winds are 50 MPH. Nestor is moving Northeast at 17 miles per hour.

Minimum Central Pressure: 998 MB

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the Okaloosa/Walton County line to Yankeetown. A Storm Surge Warning remains in effect for Indian Pass to Clearwater Beach.

So far so good with power -- Duke Energy and Gulf Power are reporting just scattered outages.
