Linkin Park Is No. 1 Band for Stress Relief, New Study Proves
A recent study by Tebra, a healthcare software developer, found that Linkin Park is the top artist Americans turn to for stress relief. The research revealed that music is a significant tool for managing stress, with 35% of Americans ranking it above exercise and talking to friends or family. The study also showed that many Americans use music as a substitute for professional mental health support, with Linkin Park, Adele, and Taylor Swift being the top artists for stress relief. Heavy music genres like metal have been found to be effective for stress reduction, with research showing that heavy metal music can relax participants as effectively as sitting in silence.

LED ZEPPELIN: “Good Times” Again
Led Zeppelin's original promotional video for “Good Times, Bad Times,” which featured them lip syncing the song on February 14th, 1969 at Thee Image Club in Miami, Florida, has been found after more than 50 years. A color copy was discovered in the archives of the Atlanta music television show The Now Explosion, which are housed at the Walter J. Brown Media Archive & Peabody Awards Collection at the University of Georgia. It was discovered after a member of the official Led Zeppelin forum suggested that the archives digitize any footage mentioning Led Zeppelin that originated from the Now Explosion show. A post on the forum reads: “Surely we’ve all seen the black and white ‘Communication Breakdown’ promo video that was shot in Miami in Feb 69. That grainy video. Turns out they mimed TWO songs that day. And ‘Good Times Bad Times’ was shot in color! Evidently Now Explosion acquired this footage way back when.” The video was shot for The Rick Shaw Show, which aired on WLBW in Miami. Shaw later become a host of The Now Explosion, which began broadcasting on March 14th, 1970.
ROLLING STONES: 55 Years of Stickiness
The Rolling Stones released Sticky Fingers 55 years ago today (April 30th, 1971). It was their 11th American studio album and first on their own label, Rolling Stones Records, making it the first one to feature their trademark tongue and lips logo. It's also their second album with guitarist Mick Taylor, and their first studio effort without founder and guitarist Brian Jones, who they fired shortly before his death in 1969. Sticky Fingers introduced us to such Stones' classics as "Brown Sugar," "Wild Horses," "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," "Bitch" and "Dead Flowers," along with the well-known deep tracks "Sister Morphine" and "Moonlight Mile."
Keith Richards recalled the Sticky Fingers sessions - "Each track has certain memories, and you remember who was there and, you know, when my guitar fell apart during 'Brown Sugar' or something. But overall, I just have a really good recollection of those sessions at the time. It was a good one."
The original Andy Warhol-designed cover is as timeless as the music. It features a man --- not Mick Jagger -- in a tight pair of jeans with a working zipper that opened to reveal white briefs. However, subsequent pressings just had the photo of the jeans as it was deemed too costly to produce and the zipper caused issues. Keith said, "The last time that they did that on the original, the zipper started to cut into the records, and they had to dump a whole load and that is why the zipper disappeared and so it became a print zipper." In Spain, the original cover was censored by the government and replaced with a "can of fingers" cover. Certified triple platinum and inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, Sticky Fingers was their first album to reach number-one on both the UK and U.S. album charts, while "Brown Sugar" topped the Billboard Hot 100. A deluxe reissue of the album came out in 2015.
Bassist Bill Wyman named his London restaurant, Sticky Fingers, in 1989. Sadly it closed in 2021 due to the pandemic. "It's amazing because when I opened this place they said it would not last because four restaurants on this site had died. We've enjoyed the company over the years of just about every rock and roll artist, every theater, filming people - Liam Neeson used to come here and read his scripts, [Bob] Dylan's been here and so many people. And of course, Princess Di and the young princes used to come here all the time. So it's rather lovely."
Lynyrd Skynyrd Sets Fall 2026 Tour Plans
Lynyrd Skynyrd are mapping out a Fall 2026 tour. The new shows are an addition to the band's summer run with Foreigner. The second leg of their tour begins in September in Green Bay, Wisconsin and is scheduled to run through October 4th in Highland, California. Tickets are available now.
GRAND FUNK RAILROAD: All Aboard!!!
Grand Funk Railroad, which only includes two of the three original members, drummer Don Brewer and bassist Mel Schacher, have announced that their lead singer for the past 26 years, Max Carl, has retired "effective immediately, due to a recent medical issue." The statement goes onto say, "For over two decades, his soulful vocals and stage presence have helped keep the Grand Funk legacy alive and vibrant. We are deeply grateful for the immense talent and enthusiasm he brought to the stage night after night. More importantly, Max has been a kind, loyal friend to us all, and a warm, gracious presence to the countless fans he has had the pleasure of meeting over the years. "Max’s contributions to rock music extend far beyond his incredible tenure with us. As one of the premier voices in rock n’ roll soul, fans will also remember his remarkable era with 38 Special, where he penned and sang lead vocals on their massive, chart-topping hit, "Second Chance." We wish Max all the very best as he focuses on his health and his family in this next chapter..." Going forward, Brewer and keyboardist
Tim Cashion will split the singing duties, and they plan to dig deeper into the catalog and add "Aimless Lady," "Bad Time" and more. Grand Funk's next show is this Saturday in Salamanca, New York.
With Max Carl retiring, now is the perfect time for Brewer and Schacher to reunite with their original bandmate and singer Mark Farner, who they haven't performed with since 1998.
Despite starting out as a three-piece in 1969, they added a fourth member in 1973, keyboardist Craig Frost, so they wouldn't have to part ways with current keyboardist Tim Cashion, and, having a second guitarist in Mark Chatfield only enhances their sound.
While Farner and Brewer have both said "never say never," the question is, do they want to make amends, which Farner addressed a few years ago. "It's real hard for me to even imagine unless there was a real change of heart, and it has to be a heart, not a mind." And at one time, Brewer told us, "The opportunity has just not come along for us to get back together. There is... really no bitterness on our end -- I think there's probably more bitterness on the other side of the coin. So, it's really not up to me. But, as I say, I don't think the correct, proper situation has come along yet. So, if it does, we'll approach it at that point." We reached out to both Farner and Brewer to see where they're at today but have yet to hear back. Mark Farner's next show is scheduled for June 20th in Warren, Ohio.
KISS Star Gene Simmons Shared One Regret Over Late Bandmate Ace Frehley
KISS star Gene Simmons wishes he'd done more to help his former bandmate Ace Frehley.
The 76-year-old Crazy Crazy Nights rocker opened up about his longtime friend - who died last year at the age of 74 - and admitted he’s filled with regret over missed opportunities to help Ace when he was battling addiction issues at the height of KISS' fame revealing he should have staged an intervention "decades ago". During an appearance on the Inside Of You With Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Gene explained: "I should have, and could have, but I should have, a long time [ago], when you see the disease starting to get ahold of him, I should have, decades ago, took, took him aside - it's called an intervention - and forced him to understand he's not just hurting himself by his lifestyle choices, but his family, his child and the fans.
"It was a stupid and shameful decision on all our parts - I know mine too - [we thought] 'No, you don't wanna get the fans upset. Let's make believe he's in the band and everything's okay at home.' And it it's tough. It's really tough."
During the interview, Gene admitted Ace - who left KISS several times over the years before departing for good in 2002 - will always be respected as a talented musician but he really suffered after the group shot to fame. He said: "It's been up and down for 50 years with Ace ... If you would've met Ace at the beginning [of KISS], God bless him, you would've fallen in love with the idea, who he is and all that. "And then [as historial Italian figure Niccolo] Machiavelli [said], [when you] have power, [you must sometimes] abuse it. "It affects all of us in different ways. Me too. But Ace turned to beverages and chemicals. Early on, he wouldn't show up … He'd be late and all this stuff. "And Peter [Criss, original KISS drummer], we love him, and God bless, he's still around, but really from the early days, as soon as the money and the fame came in, it was like the dark cloud came over. "And they were both in and out of the band three separate times. And the fans just couldn't understand it."
Steven Tyler Scores A Win In Sexual Assault Lawsuit
Steven Tyler scored a legal victory yesterday in the sexual assault case against him. It wasn't a total victory, but it was significant. Back in 2022, Julia Misley filed a lawsuit claiming the
Aerosmith singer sexually assaulted her when she was a teenager back in the 1970s. A judge dismissed most claims in the lawsuit against Tyler, leaving just one claim to proceed. The singer's attorney said in a statement, "The court has decided that only one night, fifty-plus years ago, out of a three year relationship is allowed to remain. We look forward to trying this case on Aug. 31." Misley has alleged she and Tyler had a sexual relationship when she was 16; Tyler has denied the claims, citing consent and his role as her legal guardian at the time. A second woman filed a sexual assault lawsuit against the singer in 2023, alleging he assaulted her twice in one day when she was a teenager in 1975. That suit was dismissed in February, with a New York judge ruling that the accuser waited too long to bring the case to light.
Jimi Hendrix Bandmates’ Estates Lose High Court Copyright Battle
The estates of Jimi Hendrix's bandmates, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding, have lost their copyright case against Sony Music. The lawsuit claimed the musicians were excluded from revenue for their contributions to albums by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and died in relative poverty. The high court dismissed the claims, stating that the recording agreement was clear and unequivocal, giving the producers copyright. Sony Music Entertainment expressed relief at the ruling and confirmed their entitlement to exploit the Jimi Hendrix Experience catalogue. Jimi Hendrix's sister, Janie Hendrix, emphasized positive memories of Mitchell and Redding, highlighting their commitment to honoring the musicians' legacy.
